Retiring Commorores Corner
So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen …
… but not goodbye. After four years as Commodore in the last ten years it is now time to hand over the reins to a fresh face. It is a great pleasure to be handing over to Dave Turner who I am absolutely confident will provide a new impetus to take the Club forward to its fiftieth anniversary in 2021 and beyond. Whatever else, Dave will instil a great sense of fun into proceedings; as anyone will attest who remembers his previous stint as Commodore or who has attended events with him. I wish him all the best in his new role and ask all of you to lend him all the help you can in moving the Club on into the future.
I hand over to Dave with membership at its highest for many years and the framework of an events programme that extends over the coming couple of seasons. Please help to make the those seasons successful and fun by actively joining the events that are coming up.
… now to see if I can find some time to go sailing.
We have regular meetings the first Monday of the month at the Upper Thames Motor & Yacht Club (UTMYC) in Sonning. If you would like more information on any aspect head to our website or if you would like to discuss any point with a committee member about our sailing club or visiting us on a Monday to say hello, click here to email Linda, our publicity officer, who will be happy to answer any questions.
ROSC was established in 1971and continues with regular meetings. You don't have to own a boat as many rallies are available by land, meals in a local hostillery are arranged with pre-meal drinks often on one of the attending boats.
